The hosts made the game comfortable early into the second half when Marcel McDonald doubled their lead and Sonny Dutton netted a third just after an hour.

It was a difficult night and a lot to reflect on for us and the result sees them drop to eighteenth in the league.

Kickoff:

It was the hosts who were straight out of the blocks and had the early chances.

On 13 minutes, the hosts had a great chance when a winger received the ball on the right and delivered a whipping ball into the box and found Chaka Barnett in the six yard box and his point blank header was palmed away by George Marsh.

However after 15 minutes, the hosts took the lead with a thunderous effort.

West went out on the attack and Jimi Feeley was played through on the right and struck a rocket of a shot into the top right corner.

Five minutes later, George Marsh was once again called into action when Chaka Barnett was played through but the goalkeeper was quick off his line to close down the shot.

Rovers did respond well and looked threatening on the counter. Most of the play came down the right from Reece Placid and Harry Talbot who combined but any ball into the box was dealt with by the defence of Scott Doe and Ethan Daniels.

With 30 minutes on the clock, the game changed.

Keanu Hill got in a disagreement with Albert Antonescu and they needed to be separated. After the referee consulted with his assistant, he sent off Hill and cautioned Antonescu.

Two minutes later, it got even worse for the Rovers as they went down to nine men.

Following a challenge in midfield, Thomas Barton allegedly made a comment to the referee and he deemed the comment a red card offence.

Marcus Bowers was then cautioned when he disagreed with a decision.

It was going to be a tough night for the Rovers and did well to limit the damage and went into halftime a goal down.

Halftime: West Essex 1-0 Rovers

It was going to be a tough half for the Rovers and 53 minutes in, the hosts doubled their lead.

The hosts played the ball around on the edge of the box to stretch the play, the ball was played out to Fahad Nazor on the right hand side and his cross in found Marcel McDonald alone at the back post and fired in from close range.

Just on the hour mark, the hosts had a great chance to extend their lead when they were awarded a penalty.

West Essex were using the extra two man advantage and pressed up the field. Chaka Barnett was played through on goal and was tripped in the box by Mitchell Arthur before he got his shot off and the referee pointed to the spot.

Barnett stepped up but George Marsh guessed well and dived across the right of the goal to palm the shot away and bravely block the rebound.

Midway through the second half on 66 minutes however, they netted a third.

Substitute Sonny Dutton received the ball in midfield and caught Marsh out of his goal and curled the ball into bottom left.

It was now damage limitation for the Rovers and players had to play in unfamiliar positions. They did well however to limit the hosts chances.

The only clear chance they had in the game was late on when Brandy Makuendi pounced on a loose ball following a corner but his effort was way over the bar.

The night was rounded off on a worser note when substitute Brian Songolo hobbled off late on.

Lee Bunn was then cautioned when he disagreed with the referee late on.
