Beevers nets hattrick as ladies bag first win of the season

Rovers 4-2 Great Bradford Reserves

The ladies of Great Wakering Rovers bagged their first win of the season by defeating Great Bradford Reserves 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Great Bradford took the lead early into the first half before Emelia Beevers netted on the stroke of halftime. Beevers then netted straight from a corner midway through the second half to put her side in front before the visitors drew the game level with twenty minutes to go. However, Beevers completed her hattrick with a header before Aimee Stratton netted late on to seal their first win of the season.

Kickoff:

The first half was an end to end exciting game with lots of passing and plenty of chances being created.

It was the visitors who took the lead on 13 minutes when a ball through wasn’t cleared and the forward pounced on a loose ball before rounding Zekai-Tabert and passed the ball into the empty net.

However, the Rovers responded well and created multiple chances.

They were a big threat from set pieces, especially corners as Emelia Beevers right footed balls in kept causing trouble in the opposition box but Rovers just couldn’t capitalise.

They were a visitors were looking dangerous with balls over the top but any threat was well dealt with by Sienna Creighton and Tyla Shaw who were calm and composed.

However, on the stroke of halftime, a neat passage of passing through the midfield put Emelia Beevers through on goal and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.

Halftime: Rovers Ladies 1-1 Great Bradford Reserves

Rovers came out rejuvenated in the second half and once again created more of the chances. They were a pressure would pay off as they went ahead on 65 minutes.

Rovers won a corner on the right and Emelia Beevers curled a right footed in-swinging corner which sailed into the top corner of the back post.

The visitors however responded well to their credit and equalised on 72 minutes when a forward went on a solo run down the right and slotted in at the near post.

However, on 75 minutes, Beevers completed her hattrick!

A corner whipped in from the left which wasn’t cleared and Beevers headed in off the left post for her and Rovers third.

The win was made guaranteed late on on 87 minutes when a good counter attack found Lola Adam’s out wide on the right and she fed Aimee Stratton to run in behind and slot the ball into the bottom right corner.

A great way for Louisa and Ian’s to respond and to get their first win of the season. A great turnout from the 57 supporters who turned out for the first home game of the season.
